Finally a few minutes to post my son's room we made over the same week as my daughter's room from this post:
Tween Room Makeover
Tween Room Makeover
It really doesn't take that much to update a room, most people start looking at the cost of redoing a room and the price goes sky high BUT that doesn't have to happen. A can of paint can do a world of good to update a room. Switching around furniture in your house, even just rearranging a room and cleaning out the clutter can give a room a whole new fresh look! my husband and I have spent this summer redoing, updating and cleaning/organizing almost our complete home with very little money.
Crazy little 7 year old boy's bedroom before:
This is where we started, a mix match of cowboy ( his baby room left overs) to CARS, dinosaur rug, hot wheets and "ART" taped to the wall.
He is my little artist and LOVES putting his work on display.
He wanted an orange wall (bright orange, then he wanted a green wall and then my husband suggested a camo wall, Oh MY NO!!! Then a dear friend said why not a stripe of orange on a green wall. Ok I can do that. I let my sweet crazy boy pick his colors.
Valspar's Leprechaun Green
&
Valspar Autumn Gala (Orange)
Kudos to my husband for taping off the wall and the perfectly straight stripe line, I would have never been able to pull that straight line off.
Two coats of green and we are ready for the orange
1 coat of orange..........
2 coats of orange.........
3,4,5 coats of orange. DONE!!
I painted the stripe freehand I was so afraid if I used the blue painters tape on the green it would #1 pull off the fresh green paint (I would cry) and #2 the orange would bleed through (and I would cry some more).
I used a 1" angled brush for the orange and a steady hand.
!!!!!!PINK!!!!!!
Then we took a break and started on our daughter's wall, very much a change of scenery from green and orange!
Ok, back to our regularly scheduled programing
Accent wall is finished and the soccer curtains are made with so cute yellow and white chevron trim. Soccer fabric was purchased at Joann's Fabrics $6.99 a yard, Yellow and white chevron from Hobby Lobby $8.99 a yard.
The wall decal is from a lady on Etsy, This is one of my favorite things about his new big boy room I love the personal touch.
Here is the finished room!!!
I framed both of his soccer jerseys.
Soccer wall with new shelf for two trophies and space for more & his very first soccer cleats.
The large frame above his bed is his new art display
My husband used scrap wood he had to build a simple frame, painted it and ran wire across it in three even rows and then I added metal desk clips for hanging all his art work.
The chest we switched from his sister's room, looks great in his room.
One new wall makes all the difference!
Walking into his big boy room!
"J" pillow I made to match his new curtains.
Our cost:
Lowe's paint (a gallon and a quart) $45.00
Name decal from Etsy $12.99
Black floating shelf $15.00
2 new orange pillows from Ross $12.99
Fabric for his two curtains & the "J"accent pillow $15.00
(Zero Cost)

black spray paint
2 large black metal frames for the jerseys
