Is it the end of the school year already?

I have been crazy busy with the end of this school year. We have 5 days left of this school year and my oldest peep couldn't be happier. ( 5 days left of 1st grade really? already?) WAIT that can't be right there is no way my sweet little girl is, gulp, going to be a 2nd grader in like 9 weeks??

Where has the time gone?

Our school has a special request form that you can choose to fill out for the next year. It is called the Teacher Request form, and that is exactly what you do; you request your top 4 teacher picks for your child's next school year. Talk about pressure, I mean this person spends more time with your kid during the school year than you do. That is some make or break pressure for an overly concerned parent trying to do the very best for their child.


What if I screw up and make the wrong choices, what if the list I write down isn't the best order? ...I must leave it in the hands of someone else.



The principal locks herself away in her office every summer and painstakingly reviews all the Teacher Request Forms for each and every child. She cross references my request and notes about my child with my peeps 1st grade teacher's notes about my child and decides the best teacher to place my child with. I think that is HUGE and not many school even bother to do this anymore.

We have been so crazy happy with picking the elementary school that we did. We do not go to our neighborhood district school. While it is also a good school we felt that the one we picked was the better of the two school.

Well, I guess it is WELCOME TO SUMMER in just a few short days...
